Pretty happy with this one. Pattern here.

Giant apple

After seeing this apple by the amazing Anne-Claire Petit, then this one from Country Road and then this from the Land of Nod, and because I am becoming like the mother in Goodness Gracious Me, I immediately thought "I can make it at home for nothing!".
It turned out to be a bit more involved than that but I am so happy with this giant.
I filled it with plush toys and extra pillows, an idea I got from this video.

thumbsucker mittens (with pattern)

I always forget how cold the cold is Upstate New York. Being a thumbsucker, Antea won't keep her mittens on for long so I made these that have the option for the little thumb to be in or out. I posted the pattern here.

chunky mustard jumper

I finally got to use the beautiful Beiroa yarn I got last year at Retrosaria when I was in Lisbon. I wish I had gotten more! I ran out of yarn so the jumper is more like a t-shirt. I wrote the pattern here. The best part is it goes beautifully with Antea's Mabo kids playsuit.

knitted pants

Knitted pants made from beautiful yarn Margarida brought me from Portugal. Wrote up the pattern if you want to try it out.

wiksterwick

I crossed a Wiksten top with a Butterwick vintage jumpsuit patterns and this is what I got. (Fabric from Sew Green)

strawberry jumper

Antea has been getting a lot of compliments on this jumper and I wrote down the pattern as some people have asked about it. I used Knit Picks Gloss DK in Scarlet that my dear friend Margarida gave me.

seed stitch cardigan

Beautiful local alpaca yarn. I wrote up the pattern as best as I could here.

pompom hat

Autumn Upstate New York always surprises me. I just want to knit all the time. Even Antea's Halloween costume was knitted - a big bad wolf tail and ears. Bobby Rabbit got dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood.
Instructions for pompom hat here.

Autumn simplicity

Coat adapted from vintage Simplicity pattern. All supplies from Sew Green.

the girl in her summer hats

Two hats I made for Antea this Summer - both with fabric from Sew Green. I have uploaded the template and instructions here.
The blue fabric had me discover the beauty of wax fabrics - especially the outstanding designs of Vlisco.
Oh - and Antea has learned how to say "hat" (except she says "hatti").

to catch her dreams

Dreamcatcher I made for Antea with thread and ribbon from Sew Green, three feathers we caught in the backyard and this intriguing pebble we found in Cayuga Lake that had a hole though it.

summer jumper

At last finished Antea's Summer jumper. You can download the pattern by clicking here.

mr. rabbit, mr. rabbit, your fabric is very thin

Antea's toy that she sleeps with is Mr. Bobby, the rabbit.  It has gotten so worn out that it is fraying all over. I keep darning it but it is just a mess so I decided to replicate it in the hopes she would take to the new one ("Bunny 2").
I am very happy with the result but Antea was first suspicious, then amused, and now she politely ignores the impostor.
In any case here is the template I made for Bunny 2 following these instructions. The template doesn't include seam allowances.
I used a fat quarter I got at Sew Green.

sorbet top with template

Antea has a new summer top :)
The fabric and all the notions are from Sew Green :))
You can download the pattern here.
(on the top image you can also see the hanger I made - I wrapped a plastic hanger following this method except I used ribbon rather than strips of cloth)

Cloud 9 with template

Cloud mobile for Antea's crib. The top cloud is filled with both rice and poly-fil to give it weight so it hangs over the edge.
The initial reason for making the mobile was to cover an ugly notice that is painted onto the head board in a very visible area and cannot be removed.
You can download the template for the shapes here.
The shapes are sewn using 3 strands of embroidery floss in blanket stitch. The two clouds are attached with a 2-stitch i-cord in cotton yarn. The drops attach to the big cloud with 6 strands of embroidery floss.

Sleepy time girl

Antea outgrew her sleepsack. I really liked this one so I copied it and made a larger version. There is a lot of room for her to grow now!
We got some beautiful fabric at Quilter's Corner. The fabric motif was upside down on the shoulder straps so I embroidered a little bird right side up to lull Antea to sleep. She always points at it when we are getting her ready for bed.

Liberty!

When I saw this Liberty Wool yarn I immediately wanted to make a new jumper for Antea. It was very quick - especially because I got some Addi Turbos to knit it with :) - and I am very happy with the result. The shape was inspired by a free Lopapeysa pattern. I hope to eventually knit the actual one...

Yellow jumper

Just finished last night. Got a lot of compliments today. (gosh! I have to get a proper camera!)

everything old...

When Antea was born she was really tiny. I knitted these hats for her and they were too small - well this year they fit! The white one is wool and was inspired by Purlbee's Heirloom Hat. The aviator grey one is DK Alpaca and was a trial and error design.
